Why choose Kotoko Wingshooting Safaris?

With hunting season upon us - when last did you brush up on the rules of he game? Get back to hunting basics with of Kotoko's important pointers to keep in mind the next time you hit the veld.

The golden rules of good hunting practice:

1. Safety should always be your first consideration when embarking on a hunting trip. Make sure all members of your team are aware or the dangers and what to do in a crisis situation.

2. Always let someone reliable know where you and/or you hunting team will be, and when you plan to return.

3. Always make sure that your equipment, such as rifles and bows, are in good working order. Failure to do so could result in injury to one of your hunting party or lead to your target prey suffering unnecessarily.

4.Make sure that you as well as those in your hunting party know how to handle the equipment - the rule is simple : no training, no hunting. Also make sure all your firearm licence paper work is in order.

5. Practice makes perfect, so do a bit of target practice before every hunt to give yourself a little refresher course of simply to hone your skills and focus your mind.

6. Remember, animals are wild and can therefor be unpredictable. Never take chances, even with seemingly harmless game.

7. If an animal is wounded, it shoul always be found - no exceptions.

8. Always keep your hunting partner in mind and be constantly aware of their whereabouts - accidents can happen in the blink of an eye, especially when weaponry is being used.

9. Although it tends to be popular, hunting trips should not be an excuse to drink - do one or the other, but never both at the same time. Drinking impairs both your judgement and vision, neither of which is good when handling rifles of bows.

10. Always obey the law - if you're not permitted to shoot it, don't! Also always remember to respect Mother Nature.

Before you book your next hunting safari, it is important to ask yourself the following 5 questions:

Question 1

Is there a lot of information available regarding the company - do they put themselves in the public eye by advertising locally/ nationally/ internationally? Do they have a strong web presence along with a well-structured, professional website complete with full contact details?

Question 2

Are they well-known and respected within the hunting community? In other words, do they have a good reputation? Also be sure to get a reference from more that one source - don't be scared to ask around before you make your booking. If no one has heard of them, beware - they could be a fly-by-night operation looking to take your deposit and run.

Question 3

Do they operate with a high degree of professionalism? Is their correspondence done professionaly, wether via phone calls of email? And do they take your likes and dislikes into consideration?

Question 4

Do they offer any other services and are they involved in any community/ conservation projects?

Question 5

Is everything included in the final quote? Make sure everything is listed so that you are not surprised by any hidden cost at the end of the day.
